Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a pioneering branch of engineering, the art and science of designing the infrastructure for a society. ”Civilians” are in fact the true “nation builders” considered. They contribute in design and construction of bridges, tunnels, roads, railways, airways, dams, pipelines and major buildings. In addition, Civil Engineers safeguard the environment against pollution of air, land and water, by implementing proper treatment techniques and managing the natural resources for future generation. Civil Engineering is a wide ranging profession, including several separate specialized sub-disciplines and its history is linked to knowledge of structures, materials science, geography, geology, soils, hydrology, environment, mechanics and other fields.

Considering the high demand and acute shortage of Civil Engineers for the ever increasing infrastructural needs of the society, necessity was felt for starting B. Tech programme in Civil Engineering at BTC College of Engineering and Technology in the year 2011 with an annual intake of 60 students per batch. Now the first batch of students are in their final year of study. Also the department was working as a support for other engineering branches and offered courses like Basic Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics for the first year students and Strength of Materials Theory and Lab for Mechanical Engineering students.
